Virasat Calculator

Islamic inheritance shares — wife, parents, sons & daughters.

About this calculator

Dividing a deceased person’s estate fairly is one of the most sensitive matters in any family, and Islamic law lays down clear, fixed shares for each heir. Our Virasat Calculator applies the Qur’anic rules of mirath so you can see exactly how much a wife, husband, father, mother, sons and daughters receive — without guessing or arguing over fractions.

In Pakistan, disputes over property often drag on for years simply because nobody knows the correct share at the start. Enter the total estate value and the surviving heirs, and the tool shows every person’s share in rupees and as a fraction. It is a calculation aid, not a fatwa: for complex cases (debts, wills, missing heirs), consult a qualified Islamic scholar or lawyer before distribution.

How to use

  1. Enter the total value of the estate (property, cash, gold — everything) in rupees.
  2. Select the surviving heirs: spouse, father, mother, sons and daughters.
  3. Click Calculate to see each heir’s exact share in PKR and fraction.
  4. Review the breakdown, then consult a scholar for debts, wasiyyat or special cases.

Frequently asked questions

What share does a wife get in virasat?

If the deceased had children, the wife receives 1/8 of the estate; without children, she receives 1/4. The calculator applies this automatically based on the heirs you enter.

How is property divided between sons and daughters?

Islamic law gives a son twice the share of a daughter (2:1 ratio) among children’s residue. The tool splits the children’s portion accordingly.

Is this Virasat calculator religiously authoritative?

No — it is a calculation aid for standard cases. For debts, wills (wasiyyat), or disputed claims, get a written opinion from a qualified scholar before distributing anything.
