GPA Calculator

Semester GPA from courses & grades.

About this calculator

Pakistani universities use the 4.0 GPA scale, where each grade carries grade points multiplied by the course’s credit hours. One weak subject in a 3-credit course hurts more than students expect. This calculator weights every course properly so your GPA comes out exactly as the university will compute it.

It is also a planning tool: plug in expected grades for remaining courses to see what you need for a 3.5 or a dean’s list spot. Add each course with its credit hours and grade (or expected grade) and get your semester GPA instantly.

How to use

  1. Add each course with its credit hours.
  2. Enter the grade you got (or expect) — A, A-, B+ and so on.
  3. Click Calculate for your weighted semester GPA.
  4. Try different expected grades to see what it takes to hit your target.

Frequently asked questions

How is GPA calculated in Pakistani universities?

Each grade maps to grade points (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, etc.), multiplied by credit hours, summed, then divided by total credit hours. The calculator follows this HEC-standard method.

What GPA do I need for a scholarship?

Most merit scholarships require 3.5+ CGPA, though criteria vary by university. Use the calculator to check whether your target grades get you there.

Does a 3-credit course affect GPA more than a 1-credit lab?

Yes — GPA is credit-weighted, so a 3-credit course counts three times as much as a 1-credit course. Prioritise your heavy courses.
