BMI Calculator
Body mass index with health category.
About this calculator
Body mass index is a quick screening number that relates your weight to your height, used by doctors worldwide as a starting point for health discussions. This calculator takes your height and weight — in feet and inches or centimetres, kilograms or pounds — and returns your BMI with its WHO category: underweight, normal, overweight or obese.
The number is a guide, not a diagnosis: athletes with muscle can score high without excess fat, and South Asian health guidelines sometimes flag risk at slightly lower BMIs than Western charts. Use the result as a prompt — to track a fitness plan, discuss with your doctor, or simply keep an eye on gradual weight changes over time.
How to use
- Enter your height in feet/inches or centimetres.
- Enter your weight in kilograms or pounds.
- Get your BMI instantly with the health category shown.
- Recheck monthly to track progress on a diet or exercise plan.
Frequently asked questions
What is a healthy BMI range?
A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered normal by WHO. Below 18.5 is underweight, 25–29.9 is overweight, and 30 or above is obese.
Is BMI accurate for everyone?
Not perfectly — it does not distinguish muscle from fat, so athletes may score as overweight. For most adults it remains a useful screening starting point alongside waist measurement and medical advice.
Do Pakistanis use a different BMI scale?
Some Asian health guidelines flag increased risk from BMI 23 and high risk from 27.5, lower than Western cut-offs. If in doubt, ask your doctor which scale to follow.
